Description
Skipjack Tuna (Katsuwonus pelamis) is a schooling pelagic fish, the only member of the genus of skipjack tuna. It can be found in temperate and tropical latitudes of all oceans. This is a small tuna, its maximum weight reaching 35 kilograms (77 lbs). In its habits and ways of life, this fish is similar to the Yellowfin Tuna and can flock together with its young, sometimes up to fifty thousand specimens. Schools of Skipjack Tuna feed on small fish, squid, and crustaceans living in the upper layers of the water.
