Sander Baggersee Lake - Germany
Oh, Germany... This great land has some of the most captivating fishing destinations in Europe! One of such gems is the Sander Baggersee Lake. Known for hosting a number of feeder fishing competitions, the lake is located in the lovely municipality Sand am Main in the state of Bavaria. Spreading over an area of about 40 hectares, the lake is, in fact, a large bay of the Main, the longest river flowing entirely in Germany. This magnificent waterway is much loved by German anglers for its diverse fishing possibilities. Be it feeder, float or spinning this lake’s ecosystem amazes with the abundance of fish species inhabiting its vast waters: from all kinds of Carp, Bream, Roach, Tench, and Zander to Wels Catfish, Northern Pike, and European Eel! And that’s only a few of the lake’s underwater dwellers...just waiting to be caught.

Sunrise Fishing
The long western bank of Sander Baggersee Lake is separated by a narrow paved road from some lovely houses and a popular recreational camping area. Here, on the grassy earthen shore, the angling explorer will find a wide array of fishing spots that welcomingly give access to some of the deepest areas of this immense aquatic kingdom and greet the eye with the most breathtaking sunrise views. Standing on this reed-grown shrubby waterline, indulge in a deeply satisfying fishing experience, as you catch the countless inhabitants of these clear deep waters, including numerous fish species, like Bream, Carp, Zander, and Northern Pike. And how many huge Wels Catfish found in this place - you won't believe it!
Southern Docks
Nearly the whole perimeter of Sander Baggersee Lake can be regarded as one never-ending fishing spot. The lake’s gradual earthen bank, grown with grass and bushy shrubs, is marvelously accessible for angling regardless of the surrounding landscape. This particular fishing spot further down south can be found just off a narrow paved road with a parking lot. Situated on large wooden docks and overlooking a distant mountain range, this is a lovely location with access to one of the deepest areas of the lake and a marvelous spot to do some recreational fishing for Carp, Catfish, Bream, Tench, and Zander.
Stillwater Village
This absolutely charming fishing spot on Sander Baggersee Lake is located on the bank of a stillwater area that resembles a lovely creek, somewhat cut off from the rest of the waterway. Surrounded by dense green woods on one side and overlooking a lovely rural landscape with little houses of a nearby village on the opposite bank, this enigmatic location offers a heartwarming taste of local coloring, as if bringing you closer to the serene everyday life of the people, blessed to live amidst such natural beauty. What a marvelous place to enjoy a lazy summer afternoon and indulge in some fishing excitement as you catch Bream, Crucian Carp, Tench and Common Roach that are quite abundant in these deep waters..
Lake in a Lake
Moving further along the north-eastern shore, past the golden farm fields, the angling explorer can find this marvelous little lake, separated from the main waters and offering a charming hideout for a day of fishing. Hidden from view by a dense strip of woods and overlooking a lovely little island, this remote fishing spot on high, grassy banks is literally a lake within a lake with a fishy fauna of its own. In fact, this particular location is well known for its amazing Carp fishing opportunities! Common Carp, Crucian Carp, Mirror Carp or Grass Carp - all in one place. Just go and get some of the biggest trophy specimens!
Fishing on Main
One of the most popular fishing spots on the whole Sander Baggersee in the northernmost part of the lake is in fact located right on the river Main - the right tributary of the Rhine and the longest river flowing entirely in Germany! Its navigable waters meander past the green valleys of the German Highland and the picturesque Main Lowlands with powerful grace while providing endless opportunities for recreation angling with an exuberance of fish species. Be it Roach, European Perch, Zander, Bream, Tench or Northern Pike, the river Main is generous in its abundance of fishy inhabitants!
Fields of Gold
Moving further east along the picturesque banks of Sander Baggersee Lake, you can discover this lovely stretch of shore, grown with trees and bushes. This area welcomingly grants access to another part of the lake, somewhat separated from the main body of water, forming a small charming bay where large Carp, including giant Bighead Carp, are now inhabited not without human effort. Here, right beyond a narrow dirt road, countless German farm fields stretch on for as far as the eye can see. What a great spot to enjoy a day of fishing! As the warm summer breeze tickles your senses with a sweet aroma of golden wheat and grassy fields, dissolve all your worries in this natural paradise. You can catch countless Bream, Tench, Crucian Carp, Mirror Carp, Leather Carp or two kinds of Bighead Carp, as well as many other fishy inhabitants of these calm, clear waters..
Bavarian Woods
Separated from the open wide waters of Sander Baggersee Lake by a picturesque tree-grown peninsular, this fishing location in the lake’s northernmost part is a genuine natural paradise surrounded by dense green woods. A truly marvelous contrast from the industrial settings of the opposite shore, this fishing location is just the place for getting some fresh air and letting go of all the worries of our urbanistic world.
