The serene mystic atmosphere of this particularly swampy area is just the right chill-out place for the exhausted mind. Here the lake’s bottom is gradual and rather shallow while the still clear waters are grown with dense aquatic vegetation and lily pads, thus providing shelter for underwater predators just waiting for you to cast the right bait.

Walking south along Quanchkin Lake’s vague shoreline you will stumble upon a hidden fishing spot next to a big old log. The thin sprip of shore grown with bushes and shrub, gradually descends into the swampy shallow waters. Beautiful lily pads ornament the stillness of this aquascape - just the perfect spot to cast your bait in the hopes of land a very promising catch.

Locals say that it belonged to an old ranger who once rescued an injured pelican and the bird remained in the area long after the old man died and that’s how the the house got its name.
