Description
Pacific Bluefin Tuna (Thunnus orientalis) is a large schooling pelagic fish of the tuna genus. It can be found in warm and moderate waters of the North Pacific Ocean and is very rare in its southern part. This is the largest tuna in the Pacific Ocean and the second largest among all tuna (after the Atlantic). It can reach 3 meters (9 feet) in length and more than 400 kilograms (880 lbs) of weight. As a rule, Pacific Bluefin Tuna don't go below 200 meters (650 feet). Tunas often flock with other tunas of their size. It is constantly in motion, actively feeding day and night. It is an extremely voracious predator and feeds on a variety of small schooling fish, squid, and crabs.
