It can reach up to 70 kilograms (154 lbs) in weight and about 2.5 meters (8 feet) in length. It can be found at depths of up to 650 meters in the tropical waters of the Indian and Western Pacific Oceans. This fish prefers to settle near reefs, but can also swim in estuaries and lagoons. This is an undemanding and voracious predator that hunts around the clock. Small fish, shrimp, and squid make up the basis of its diet.
