Independence Trout Open!
Welcome to Independence Trout Open, the annual Trout sportfishing tournament hosted by Fishing Planet in the wake of July 4th, Independence Day! This is what we’ve all been waiting for! The Trout you catch might be virtual, but the Tournament and the Championship status are as real as they get! Register for the Independence Trout Open, pass the Qualifiers, get to the Final Round and compete against the very best to become the Independence Trout Open Champion! First-place winner and two runner-ups get the fame, the glory and, of course, valuable prizes! But making it to the Top-10 is quite an achievement too! This is the one sportfishing event you don’t want to miss!
- Everyone is eligible to register and participate in the Tournament.
- All player level restrictions for visiting waterways in Tournament-related States will be temporarily lifted for all players registered in the Tournament.
- Tournament registration fee covers all necessary Licenses for all the qualifying fish in the waterways of Tournament-related States. Licenses will be valid only for the duration of the Tournament for all participants regardless of their performance.
- Tournament Rounds include: 3 Qualifiers, Semifinal and Final Round. A player who is already qualified to compete in the Semifinal Round cannot participate in the remaining Qualifying Rounds.
- Winners of every Tournament Round are awarded in-game prizes.
- Players may use only barbless tackle.
- Boats usage during the tournament is prohibited.
- Rod stand usage during the tournament is prohibited.
- Players must use a Keepnet. No Stringers are allowed.
- Only 10 fish from the player’s Keepnet will count in the Tournament. Any fish above that limit must be released.
- Winner is determined by the total weight of 10 fish in the Keepnet at the end of a Round.
- Each Qualifying Round lasts 20 hours. Within this period, players may choose a 2-hour time window to pass the Qualifier.
- Qualifier Results become available 4 hours after the end of a Qualifying Round.
- To get to the Semifinal Round a player must make it to the Top-20 in either one of the Qualifiers.
- Semifinal and Final Rounds of the Tournament are held in real time, lasting 2 hours simultaneously for all players.
- Only players who make it to the Top-20 in the Semifinal, will proceed to the Final Round.
- Upon completion of each tournament stage, players with the Top-10 results get rewards.
- Additional Prize is awarded for the biggest single fish caught.
- Top-3 Tournament Finalists are awarded with valuable prizes: Credits, BaitCoins, exclusive tackle and unique equipment.

The 2nd Qualifying Round of Independence Trout Open will be held in Michigan, on the breathtaking banks of Lake Saint-Croix - one of the best fishing destinations in North America. If you didn’t make it to the Top 20 in the 1st Qualifier, this is your second chance to get one of the twenty best results and go through to the Semifinal!
