Description
European Weatherfish (Misgurnus Fossilis) is a species of Loach, widespread in Europe and Asia. It gets its name for coming to the surface and acting excitedly whenever there is change in the air pressure before a thunderstorm. These fish inhabit still waters of muddy rivers and are very resilient to low oxygen environments. These small fish are yellowish in coloration with brown bands stretching along their entire body. European Weatherfish usually grow to a length of about 30 cm (12 in) and maximum weight of 0.25 kg (0.5 lb).
