Description
Bonefish (Albula Vulpes) is a marine fish that belongs to the Bonefish family and is distributed in warm coastal waters throughout the tropical and subtropical parts of the planet, being one of the most popular game fish in the world. Bonefish prefer to inhabit saltwater and brackish coastal areas, particularly shallow waters of estuaries and bays with sandy and muddy bottoms. Easily distinguished by their large dorsal fins that may show above the water surface, Bonefish range from silvery to greenish-olive in coloration and typically grow to a weight of about 2 to 6 kg (4 to 15 lb). However, some specimen have been known to reach the weight of 10 kg (21 lb) with a length of up to 90 cm (35 in). As for their diet, Bonefish feed predominantly on crustaceans, molluscs, worms, and fry.
