Description
Alaska Blackfish (Dallia Pectoralis), is a species of Arctic freshwater fish that typically found in shallow, densely vegetated areas of ponds and rivers of Alaska and eastern Siberia. These small and sluggish bottom-dwellers with elongated olive-brown bodies can live in water temperatures as low as 0°C and are said to withstand even being frozen solid. Fully grown Alaska Blackfish weigh only about 0.1 - 0.3 kg (0.2 - 0.6 lb), reaching a maximum length of under 20 cm (7.8 in). These fish primarily feed on plankton and insect larvae.
